Loch an Eilein on the Rothiemurchus Estate near Aviemore was voted No 1 Picnic Spot in Scotland in 2008 and a runner up in the UK.  Vote again to help it retain its title in 2009 http://www.welovebread.co.uk/flash Vote by this Friday the 17th April.

Rothiemurchus Estate also hosts The Outsider Festival this year over the 27th/28th June www.visitaviemore.com/outsiderfestival with headline acts Sharleen Spiteri of Texas and Teenage Fanclub alonside some great comedy acts and an Outrider and Outrunner event.

Another excuse to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Cairngorms National Park is the Aviemore and Cairngorms Walking and Mountain Festival. www.visitaviemore.com/walkingfestival Run over the 9th to the 16th May this is a great opportunity to explore the National Park with some guided walks for all abilities as well as a great line up of other activities on offer such as white water rafting, gorge walking, canoeing etc.  This all kicks off on the 9th at the Cairngorm Hotel, the festival’s head quarters in Aviemore at 7.30pm with a piper for the opening ceremony.  The full programme is available here

The Outsider Festival 2009 announces its line up this Friday the 27th March……watch www.visitaviemore.com for details.
